This retrofitted yield mapping kit includes a dual-frequency, multi-constellation GPS receiver, optical yield sensors, a moisture sensor and all the wiring harnesses needed to connect the antenna and the sensors to the data logger and the latter to the FieldView Drive. It enables any harvester, regardless of the year, make, or model, to wirelessly live-map crop yield in the FieldView Cab App.
In the market, retrofitted yield mapping systems can be expensive and can require technical support for installation. However, the installation of the FieldView yield monitor can be completed by the end-user in only 2 - 4 hours. It easily and affordably makes any harvester ready to record yield data in FieldView. No additional monitors or devices are required as users quickly setup and calibrate sensors via a mobile application. The multi-constellation GPS receiver ensures improved and reliable signal. Data is transferred via Bluetooth through the FieldView Drive to an iPad running the FieldView Cab App. In a few taps, while harvesting, farmers can record yields by crop, field and farm, live matching previously recorded/added field data (planting, fertilisation, or spraying), saving time usually required for data entries. Offsite users can execute the remote view of the Cab App and monitor the harvesting.
Similar systems have in the past brought about various challenges. These systems are often not directly compatible for live data streaming with FieldView Drive (only file exportation/importation options are available). Retrieving data from monitors can also be complicated and time consuming. Post-harvest adjustment can take time too (this includes editing the crop harvested, the field and farm names, etc.). Once ready, yield maps need in-depth analysis, usually performed by importing maps in ad hoc, not user-friendly software. Hardly any software enables zone level reports. Converting data into prescriptions may require additional software and knowledge.
FieldView’s new yield mapping kit, however, aims to combat these challenges.
