Privacy Policy FAQs

The Climate Corporation, The Climate Corporation International SA, and our affiliates respect our customers’ privacy. That’s why it’s important to us that you understand how we’ll protect and use the personal and farming information you share with us.

Please review our full Privacy Notice before you use our products or services. In that notice, you’ll find we:

  1. Respect that you own the information you provide to us, including the data generated from the farming equipment you operate.
  2. Commit to requesting your consent before using your information for any purpose other than those described in our notice.
  3. Allow you to delete your information upon request.

Below are some questions on our Privacy Notice that we hear frequently from customers.

  1. Is your Privacy Notice compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
Yes, The Climate Corporation has taken steps to protect the personal data and privacy of European Union (EU) citizens and bring our Privacy Notice into compliance with GDPR.  This new data privacy policy will apply to data we process on our customers in the EU and Ukraine.

  2. What information is covered by the Privacy Notice?
It covers the personal and farming operation information you provide to us when you purchase, set up, or use any of The Climate Corporation products or services, including, for example, data generated from the farming equipment you own or lease. It also covers any non-identifying data collected on our website, such as IP address and cookies. In the Privacy Notice, we call that “Your Information.”

  3. Do you own my information once I provide it to you?
No. As outlined in our Privacy Notice, we do not claim any ownership interest in Your Information. Your Information remains yours after you provide it to us.

  4. How will you use my information?
Your Information, and Aggregated Information, is used for the purposes set out in the Privacy Notice, such as to develop products and services delivered by The Climate Corporation. Aggregated Information also may be shared with Monsanto for the purposes set out in the Privacy Notice, such as to support the development, production, and deployment of new and better agriculture inputs, including seed and crop protection products.

Aggregated Information is the combination of many farmer data sets, does not include a farmer’s name or farm name and may only be used for those purposes described in the Privacy Notice. Examples of Aggregated Information include: summaries of pest and disease reports by region, the performance of a corn hybrid by soil type, or average yield by management practice in a state.

We may also use Your Information to communicate with you about our products and services or present offers that may be of interest to you, but you can opt out of those communications at any time.

We will not use Your Information or Aggregated Information for any purpose other than those described in our notice, unless you give us permission, except when we’re legally required to or to protect our legal rights. For example, we will not sell Your Information or Aggregated Information, use it to speculate on commodities, or use it to price Monsanto seed products or those of other seed producers.

  5. Since The Climate Corporation is owned by Monsanto Company, will my information be shared with Monsanto?
Only Aggregated Information may be shared with Monsanto in some instances, specifically for the development, production, and deployment of products and services. Aggregated Information is the combination of many farmer data sets, does not include a farmer’s name or farm name and may only be used for those purposes described in our Privacy Notice. Examples of Aggregated Information include: summaries of pest and disease reports by region, the performance of a corn hybrid by soil type, or average yield by management practice in a state.

  6. What is Aggregated Information and how will it be used?
We may create Aggregated Information by combining Your Information with other customers’ information and with information obtained from other sources. Examples of Aggregated Information include summaries of pest and disease reports by region, the performance of a corn hybrid by soil type, or average yield by management practice in a state.

Aggregated Information may be shared with Monsanto for the development, production, and deployment of products and services. The use of Aggregated Information for the production and deployment of products will help ensure farmers have access to the products that perform best on their operations. For example, Aggregated Information may be used to:
    • Identify seed hybrids and varieties that will perform best for farmers and produce that seed in the right quantity to meet farmer demand.
    • Develop potential new seed or crop protection products that will be beneficial for farmers.
    • Inform agronomic models that we deliver through our digital tools.

  7. Will my information be used to price Monsanto seed? What about for seed pricing by other companies?
No. As outlined in our Privacy Notice, we will not use Your Information or Aggregated Information to price Monsanto or other agricultural seed producers’ seed, unless you have consented.

  8. Who else has access to the information I provide?
The Climate Corporation and our affiliates and Service Providers have access to Your Information, unless you choose to provide others with access to information on your Climate account. Service Providers are companies and consultants we work with to support our business operations, like website hosting, data analysis, software development, and other services. Those Service Providers agree not to use or disclose Your Information other than to provide their services for us. We may also share Your Information with others, such as law enforcement agencies, on a very limited basis as set out in our Privacy Notice.

You may choose to share Your Information with others. Our Privacy Notice does not address, and we aren’t responsible for, the information and data collection, use, disclosure or security of any channel partner or other person or third party to whom you choose to provide Your Information or account access (such as dealers, agents and sales representatives who help you purchase and use Your Products). We provide you the ability to view who you’ve granted access to your data and revoke that access at any time.

  9. Will you voluntarily share my personal or farming information with government agencies?
No. As outlined in our Privacy Notice, we will not share Your Information with any government entity unless we’re compelled, or legally required in our judgment, to do so.
  10. Will you sell my information or use it to speculate on commodities in an attempt to manipulate the market?
No. As detailed in our Privacy Notice, we will not sell Your Information, and we will not use it for speculative commodities trading

  11. Can I delete my information from Climate Corporation Service Platform systems?
Yes. Email delete-request@climate.com to have Your Information and accounts deleted from our systems. There are some practical and required exceptions. We won’t delete information we’re legally required to keep or that’s needed to protect our rights or to support your products and services. Also, if information has already been combined into Aggregated Information, such as to inform the development of an agronomic model, that Aggregated Information will not be changed. Read our Privacy Notice to learn more about deleting Your Information from our systems.

  12. Will you let me export my information from your systems to transfer it to a different agronomic services or precision agriculture company?
Yes. We provide several ways to move data out of the Climate Corporation Service Platform to allow you to extract your data at any time and send it to another service provider. We will continue to add more options for export over time.
